Buyer's Remorse - Big Man Megalon

Bought me one of them new-fangled ReAction Figures Godzilla blind boxes - $15 bucks for a jank Kenner figure, man. I get they're "art toys", but I dunno. Inflation, and all that, but it's always felt like they're pushing it, y'know?

That being said, I'm totally part of the problem, as I'm really into the line, and have quite a few. Couple of my favorites are the Chucky, the SpongeBob and Patrick set, Godzilla '74, and MF DOOM.

somewhat related shot of The Sponge
I landed the mighty roach demon Megalon, star of 1973's Godzilla Vs Megalon; one of the dumbest, and most incredible films of all time. I was hoping for Godzilla '62, from King Kong Vs Godzilla, but Megalon's a nice one to catch since I'd probably never buy the figure straight up. Nice excuse to own him, y'know?

The figure's got some nice, and really sharp detail - those spikes can hurt. Feels like they mightve taken some inspiration from the MMS figure, though this ones absolutely got the better pose; great energy to it. Hell, not that these figures are related, but the ReAction's even got better paint. Dig the black trim on his neck and wings. While it's certainly inspired by old-school Kenner, he's still pretty darn accurate to the actual onscreen character - I typically like the more stylized, toyetic takes in ReAction, but either way, the sculpt's mad impressive for what it is.

Megalon rocks! Hes a perfect teeny-tiny representation of everyone's favorite idiot bug. Every time I buy one of these, I immediately want more - they're sort of addictively simple. I'm really excited to see that ReAction is taking on Godzilla Minus One; I hope this means more characters from outside the Showa era, like Shin Godzilla, or Gigan 2004. And don't even get me started on Captain Gordon. The potential...

Well, I don't know how to end this one, since these are always more of an off-the-cuff ramble. Whatever! Goodnight, Wastelnd!
